The City Wide Yard Sale was a big hit this year. There were cars everywhere in Sharon all day Saturday! Lots of sales and lots of buyers! I hope you found your treasures while shopping this past Saturday in Sharon!
The Smoke Shack had their grand opening on Saturday during the yard sales. They served hot dogs and had quite a few people stop in. Welcome to the Sharon community!
For a May calendar for the Sharon Senior Center, call Shirley Chappell at 456-2213. She prepares calendars with all the monthly events on them, and you can pick one up at the center.
The center has exercise equipment and games and is ready for us to enjoy! There is a monthly potluck luncheon on the second Wednesday of each month. You don’t have to be a senior to attend the festivities. If you are available during daytime hours, feel free to drop in and meet the gang. You can play cards with them or just socialize.
Either way, you are destined to have a good time. They play cards every day, shuffleboard, and dominos periodically, so why not come on out and meet the other seniors in our community? Mark your calendars and we hope to see you at the Sharon Senior Center! Also, Mrs. Shirley is still providing rides to get groceries. She does this on Tuesday mornings around 10 a.m. You must call by Monday to be on the list and get a ride.
The Sharon Dulcimers have resumed practice. They meet every Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. at the Sharon Senior Center. Practice is weekly unless otherwise posted. If you play or sing, you are welcome to join in with the group. It is a great way to relax after a hard day, too. If you have questions you can call Prentice or Betty Ary at 456-2776.
The Sharon Library is still doing the shredding Tuesday through Friday from 1-3 in the afternoon. Bring your old documents to the back door of the library. There is a charge of 50 cents per pound. The shredder can handle small staples and credit cards. You can call the library if you need more details. Also, remember that the Sharon Library Summer Reading Program is set for 10 a.m. on the following Thursdays: June 5, 12, 19 and 26. The theme this year is “Space.” All readers will receive prizes! If you need further information pertaining to anything at the library, please feel free to call 456-2707 and ask your questions.
Phillip and Regina Clark are celebrating their anniversary today, May 1. My niece, Lauren Lassiter is celebrating her 21st birthday on May 2. Josh Morrow is celebrating his birthday on May 4. Rose and Trent Wade are celebrating their anniversary on May 5. I want to wish a very happy birthday and happy anniversary to those from the Sharon community! Remember that if you aren’t added to the community birthday and anniversary list, please e-mail or call me with your information. I would love to complete it, but I can’t do it without you. So while you are reading this article, you could stop for one moment and give me a call with your family’s information.
Well, for today, that is “all the news that is news” from the Sharon community. Remember to continue to pray for the military, your neighbors, and that God will have mercy on our land!
