Rogers Wade Truett Sr., 68, of Hornbeak died May 3, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cryer Funeral Home in Obion, with Paul Bramlett officiating. Burial will follow in Troy’s Terrace Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home 6-8 this evening.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Dean, Bobby Staggs, Tommy Jerden, Will Boyd, James Beasley and Rocky Woods. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Hornbeak Volunteer Fire Department.
Military personnel will serve as pallbearers at the cemetery and there will be full military honors.
He was born Nov. 8, 1939, in Obion County, son of the late Herbert Lexie and Maudie Mozell (Rodgers) Truett. He was a U.S. Army veteran and had also served in the National Guard for 21 years. He was a member of Cottonwood Baptist Church in Ridgely and Harmony Masonic Lodge No. 184 in Tiptonville.
He had been employed at the former Sta-Rite in Union City.
Survivors include his son, Rogers Wade Truett Jr. of Hornbeak; his stepson, Tony Copeland of Hornbeak; his stepdaughter, Debbie Peterson of Obion; two brothers, Bill Truett of Denham Springs, La., and M.R. Truett of Obion; two sisters, Gail Arms of Union City and Dr. Bonnie (Truett) Serrat of Huntsville, Ala.; and 10 grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Lola Frances Vandriver.
