Marlon E. Jones, 90, of Water Valley, Ky., died 9:15 p.m. May 4, 2008, at Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield, Ky.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hornbeak Funeral Home in Fulton, with the Rev. Danny Potts officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Dukedom.
Friends may call at the funeral home 5-8 this evening and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the hour of services.
The family requests that memorials be made to Oak Grove Cemetery Fund, in care of Paula Lamb, 301 West State Line Road, South Fulton, TN 38257.
He was born Feb. 27, 1918, in Weakley County, son of the late Lee and Lucy (McClain) Jones. He was married to the former Vivian Ophelia Foster, who died June 3, 2007. He was a retired carpenter and had been a member of the former Oak Grove Church of Christ in Dukedom. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and had lived in this area most of his life, except for 20 years he spent in Warren, Mich.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Jimmie and Debbie Jones of Fulton; three grandchildren, Wendy Heatherly of Murray, Ky., P.J. Jones of Union City and Shelly Rosales of Austin, Texas; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by five brothers, Estes Jones, Henson Jones, D.J. Jones, Allen Jones and Theron Jones; and three sisters, Beauton Howard, Valeria Carney and Montez Blackard.
