James Norrid Phillips, 86, of Union City died at 10:20 a.m. May 3, 2008, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
Graveside services were 2 p.m. Sunday at East View Cemetery.
Dilday Funeral Home in Union City was in charge of arrangements.
He was born Jan. 5, 1922, in Obion County, son of the late Lester L. and Fannie Bell (Norris) Phillips. He married the former Fannie Jo Griffin April 26, 1942. She died Sept. 2, 2004.
He was retired from the former Brown Shoe Co. in Union City, where he was employed for 30 years, and was a World War II veteran, serving in the Fifth U.S. Army in Italy. He was a member of Jones-Walker Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4862 in Union City and American Legion Post 55 in Martin.
Survivors include his son, Ronnie Phillips of Union City; three grandchildren, Rhonda Phillips of Tampa, Fla., Paula Phillips of Union City and Jason Phillips of Eglin Air Force Base in Florida; and two great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Thelma Stubblefield.
