Domestic arrests made for rape, assault
A Weakley County man is accused of raping his wife after a report was filed with the sheriff’s department.
An affidavit of complaint charges Derl Vermillion with one count of rape after he allegedly had sex with his wife against her will.
According to the report, his wife reported the incident April 28 to the Weakley County Sheriff’s Department.
Apparently Vermillion’s wife has had three surgeries since the beginning of the year and had experienced an infection as a result of the surgeries.
The last rape incident allegedly took place April 26.
Vermillion was charged with the Class A felony count of rape.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in Weakley County General Sessions Court.
In unrelated news, the Dresden Police Department has charged C.J. Webb, a resident of North Cedar Street, with aggravated domestic assault.
According to an affidavit of complaint, Webb physically assaulted his wife on April 25.
The report cites he hit his wife in the head and arms and at one point held her down and continually punched and kicked her.
Once outside, Webb’s wife managed to run to a neighbor’s house and call 911, according to the report.
DPD officer John Covington noted in his report the victim had bruising on her arms and chest and swelling to the lip, cheek and above her eye.
Webb is charged with aggravated domestic assault.
His preliminary hearing is set for 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday in Weakley County General Sessions Court.
