T.J.’s Meat Market seeks to offer something that’s a cut above the others.
The meat market — where fresh butchered meat is the order of the day — recently opened at 1511 South First St. at the south end of Union City’s Reelfoot Shopping Center.
The owners are Tommy O’Steen Sr. and Tommy O’Steen Jr., whose staff of butchers includes Butch Redden and O’Steen Jr.
At their spacious and immaculate shop, the O’Steens specialize in fresh butcher-choice meats of all types and cuts, including beef, fresh hamburger and ground chuck, pork, fresh sausage and chicken. The meat is never frozen and can be cut to order, with custom orders on the spot while customers wait.
“Come watch your meat be cut,” the O’Steens said.
The O’Steens said their choice hand-cut meat is top quality and is competitively priced.
Frozen vegetables, biscuits and special ordered items are also available, as well as Gulf Coast seafood and deli meats and cheeses. Deli sandwiches to-go will soon be added, according to O’Steen Sr.
The O’Steens said they formerly owned T.J.’s Whistlin Pig in Fulton, which they sold in order to move to Union City and open the market.
T.J.’s Meat Market is open Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m.-7 p.m.
