Dyer Food Rite employees Heather Clark and Emily Worrell are this year’s recipients of the Food Rite Stores’ College Scholarships.
Joey and Jeanie Hays, owners of Food Rite, sponsor the scholarships, which are managed by the Tennessee Grocers Education Foundation.
The foundation has aided in funding close to $2 million in scholarships since its beginning in 1981.
Food Rite employees and children of employees who are planning on attending college are eligible for the scholarships. Each scholarship awarded is worth $1,000 and may be used at the higher education school of the winner’s choice. The winners are chosen by a retired independent college professor who reviews each application.
Miss Clark and Miss Worrell are both employed at the Dyer location as cashiers.
The scholarships and awards were presented at the recent Tennessee Grocers Association banquet in Nashville.
