ROBERTS
University of Tennessee at Martin junior Savannah Roberts has been named the Ohio Valley Conference’s Player of the Week after an incredibly productive week. She hit a staggering .647 over six games and had a grand slam to help lead the Skyhawks to a 5-1 record during that span. She also tallied six RBI, scored three runs, earned five walks and stole a base.
This is the first OVC Player of the week honor for Roberts in her career.
In the weekend three-game series against Southeast Missouri, Roberts hit .900 after going 9-10 at the plate with six RBI, three runs scored and knocking the game-winning grand slam in the series finale. Roberts’ grand slam also moved her into a tie for sixth-place on the UT Martin all-time home run list. The game-winning shot was the eighth time this season she has knocked in the game-winner and second time she has done so with a long ball.
Earlier in the week, Roberts earned two walks and a single against the always tough Southern Illinois pitching staff to help the Skyhawks earn their first-ever wins over the Salukis. In addition, the junior slugger also reached base twice and scored a run against Austin Peay.
