For the third consecutive year, Dyersburg State Community College will be holding commencement exercises at Dyer County High School.
The 38th annual commencement will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. Degrees will be conferred upon 239 candidates.
Since DSCC’s first commencement in 1971, there have been more than 5,000 graduates.
“Once again, because of the large number of graduates, the college must use the gymnasium at DCHS to seat the number of family members and guests who will attend commencement,” said J. Dan Gullett, assistant vice president for Academic Affairs.
This year, Dr. Belle S. Wheelan will serve as commencement speaker.
Dr. Wheelan is president for the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
The Commission on Colleges was founded in 1912 and was organized to develop standards and a process for accrediting colleges and universities in the South.
