Completed arrangements are being announced for Grover Samuel Cutler, 81, of Obion, who died April 30, 2008, at his residence.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Cryer Funeral Home in Obion, with Dr. A.C. Gooch officiating. Burial will follow there in Zion Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. today.
Pallbearers will be Tyree Callens, Keith Jones, Scott Hunt, Tim Thomason, Nicholas Hall and Randy Roberson.
The family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
He was born June 4, 1926, in Obion, son of the late Samuel P. and Lovie (Gunter) Cutler. He was a retired timber cruiser for Reelfoot Lumber Co. and was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and member of the Church of Christ. He was also an avid woodworker who made several crafts, including picture frames.
Survivors include his wife, Irene (Yates) Cutler; two sons, Sammy Cutler of Obion and Dale Cutler of Dyersburg; two daughters, Beth Thomason of Sikeston, Mo., and Leanne Hall of Obion; his brother, Frank Cutler of Milan; his sister, Mary Plummer of Troy; seven grandchildren, Lisa Hunt of Dexter, Mo., Timothy Thomason of Greenville, S.C., Jennifer Callens and Shelly Hall, both of Obion, Melissa Jones of Troy, Dave Huey of Denton, Texas, and Nicholas Hall of Union City; two step-grandchildren, Bobby Pilcher of Dyersburg and Jim Tom Pilcher of Caruthersville, Mo.; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Huey; three brothers, Arlie Cutler, Horace Cutler and Nathan Cutler; two sisters, Ruth Ann Cutler and Sylvia Faulk; and his great-grandson, Samuel Keith Jones.
