Dogs removed from area home
Another case of dogs apparently being abandoned is being investigated by the Obion County Sheriff’s Department after three animals were picked up Monday at a home in the Rives area.
Chief Deputy Kent Treece said the case remains under investigation today and no one has yet been charged in the incident, which was reported to the sheriff’s department by a representative of the Ken-Tenn Humane Society who does work locally as an animal control officer.
The three dogs were removed from the apparently abandoned home and taken to Reelfoot Animal Hospital for treatment, sources said.
The removal of the dogs Monday marks the second time in recent days that dogs have been removed from homes in the Rives area. Friday, four adult dogs — including two that were “near death” — and seven puppies were removed from another Rives area residence and taken to Reelfoot Animal Hospital, according to Obion County Sheriff Jerry Vastbinder.
The first incident also remains under investigation and no charges have yet been filed.
