David Allen Johansen
David Allen Johansen, 88, of South Fulton, died Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at Regional Hospital of Jackson.
Services were held 2 p.m. Sunday at the Pentecostal Tabernacle in Water Valley, with the Rev. Larry McClure officiating. Burial was in the Pentecostal Tabernacle Cemetery in Water Valley. Hornbeak Funeral Home of Fulton, Ky., was in charge of arrangements.
Johansen was born Sept. 3, 1921, in Ryder, N.D., son of the late William “Bill” and Lena Allen Johansen. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army serving in World War II, was a military policeman for the 95th Infantry Division and served in Germany, France, Holland and Belgium. He retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. where he worked for 33 years and was a member of the Pentecostal Tabernacle of Water Valley.
Survivors include his wife, Ida Lou Williams Richardson Johansen of South Fulton; six sons, Gary (Lynette) Johansen of San Jose, Calif., Charles (Rhonda) Richardson of Tupelo, Miss., John (Kathy) Johansen of Tupelo, Miss., William (Cheryl) Johansen of Kenosha, Wis., Roger (Penny) Johansen of Somers, Wis., and Keith (Penny) Johansen of Martin; one daughter, Cheryl (Jeff) Hartleroad of Dyersburg; two brothers, Russell (Jeanette) Johansen of Minot, N.D., and Gerald (Delina) Johansen of Ryder, N.D.; 22 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra Kaye Johansen; and one brother, Robert Johansen.
