Vera Nell (Harpole) Wehman, 81, of Union City died April 27, 2008, at Saint Francis Hospital in Memphis.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Union City, with the Rev. David Russell officiating. Burial will follow in East View Cemetery. White-Ranson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Friends may call at the funeral home 5-8 p.m. Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Bill Townes, Dan Smith, Will Townes, Hunter Smith, Dr. Joe Harpole Jr., Dr. Steve Harpole, Phillip Wehman and Dr. Bill Dunlap.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Margaret Carter Sunday School class at First United Methodist Church in Union City.
She was born Jan. 2, 1927, in Union City, daughter of the late Albert Hunter and Lillian (White) Harpole. She married Roy Cary Wehman Nov. 13, 1960. He survives. She was an insurance agent for the former White and Hobbs Insurance Agency in Union City and was a retired employee of Union City Insurance Agency. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Union City, the Margaret Carter Sunday School class, United Methodist Women, Athenian Review Club and Reelfoot Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, where she served in the office of registrar.
Survivors also include two daughters and sons-in-law, Martha and Bill Townes of Union City and Nell and Dan Smith of Newbern; four grandchildren, Hunter Smith and Cary Smith, both of Newbern and Will Townes and Katie Townes, both of Union City; her sister, Mary Lillian Creasy of Martinsville, Va.; two brothers, Dr. Joe Harpole Sr. of Union City and Dr. David Harpole Sr. of Richmond, Va.; and her brother-in-law, Phil Wehman of Chattanooga.
She was also preceded in death by her brother, Frank White Harpole; and her sister, Elizabeth (Harpole) Dunlap.
