Union City advances to State Tournament semis

Union City’s Tony Wilkins and Andre Coby provide snug defense during the first half of the Twisters’ 59-55 victory Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the TSSAA State Tournament.
Union City is now two victories away from the TSSAA Class A state championship.
The Golden Tornadoes — now 35-0 —advanced to Friday’s semifinals after a 59-55 victory over Tennessee Temple today at the Murphy Center in Murfreesboro.
MJ Brown keyed the UC effort with 19 points with Andre Coby offering 10 points and seven rebounds.
The Twisters will play the winner of today’s 12:15 game between Eagleville and Moore County Friday at 10:30 a.m.
