Tobacco growers to be honored by company

The U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Manufacturing Company is holding a free reception and dinner for all dark tobacco growers in Kentucky and Tennessee to recognize their contributions to the local farming economy and communities.
Guest speakers will discuss the bright future of dark tobacco and the challenges that lie ahead for local growers. Speakers include Danny Kingins, USSTMC Hopkinsville, Ky., plant manager and event host, U.S. Congressman Ed Whitfield from Kentucky’s First District, University of Louisville Professor Dr. Brad Rodu and Agricultural economist Dr. William Snell from the University of Kentucky College of Agriculture.
The event will be held March 19 at 6 p.m. at James E. Bruce Convention Center, located at 300 Conference Center Drive in Hopkinsville.
All dark tobacco growers and guests 18 years of age and older interested in attending should call 1-866-683-3670 by this Wednesday.
