Dresden Duplicate Club

Dresden Duplicate Club

By: By Toni Pritchett

Dresden Duplicate Bridge club came to order on March 5, and the 14 players attending found their places at the appropriate tables. We had several regulars absent today due to illness or illness of their families.
Lots of chitchat was going on, of course about politics that is all the talk right now, and especially about Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. One thing for sure is we all want peace. President Dwight D, Eisenhower said in Public Papers of Presidents, “I think that people want peace so much that one of these days government better get out of the way and let them have it.”
Our tasty refreshments were raspberry cream dip and a huge tray of broccoli, cauliflower, grape tomatoes, celery strips and baby carrots. Then we had Alma’s better than ever strawberry cake with strawberry icing. (It’s worth playing bridge just to be able to eat at the meetings).
Winners were Carolyn Rogers, Jackie Hohman, Freddye Oliver and Toni Pritchett, tied for first; and Jack Bogue, Sue Thompson, Roberta Meyer and Naomi Owens in third and fourth. (Naomi is the director of the Paris Duplicate Bridge Club, and they meet at 12:30 p.m. Fridays.)
Several of our players are going to a bridge tournament March 7-9 at Gilbertsville, Ky. It is always a challenge, and we enjoy the company of bridge players from many states.
We love taking snacks to eat. Here is one all of our friends enjoy.
Cut a cherry tomato into quarters, but do not cut deeply enough to separate. Stuff center with a smoked oyster.
When we eat these we are ready to say, “Whose deal is it?”
