Completed arrangements are being announced for Buddy Swift, 73, of Water Valley, Ky. He died March 5, 2008, at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville.
Services were 3 p.m. Sunday at Hornbeak Funeral Home in Fulton, with the Revs. Johnie Dalton and Gayle Barnes officiating. Burial followed in Mount Zion Cemetery in Water Valley.
He was born Aug. 13, 1934, in Fulton County, Ky., son of the late Freeman and Mavis (Boaz) Swift. He was a self-employed carpenter and a U.S. Army veteran. A member of Mount Zion Old Cumberland Presbyterian Church, he had lived in the area all his life.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lee (Murrell) Swift; his daughter and son-in-law, Elisa and Mack Allen of Water Valley; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Cindy Swift of Water Valley and Gary and Lisa Swift of Fulton; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Danny Swift of Fulton, Jerry Swift of Water Valley and Bill Swift of Prescott, Ariz.; and six sisters, Carolyn Fisher of Green Bay, Wisc., Myra Pickle of Cisco, Texas, Bessie Dublin of Tamasket, Wash., Jo Menness of Fort Worth, Texas, Mary Morgan of Hickman, Ky., and Betty Allen of Blue Springs, Mo.
He was also preceded in death by her brother, Leon Swift; and her sister, Martha Ann Swift.
