Crash yields injuries

A driver and her passengers were injured Wednesday afternoon in a one-vehicle crash on the parking lot of Second Baptist Church at 831 North Everett Boulevard in Union City.
Cassandra Lynn Zawadzki, 39, of 1408 East Church St., Union City, told police she was in the church’s parking lot about 2:40 p.m. attempting to learn how to drive when she turned the 1990 Chevrolet Astrovan too sharply, hitting the church’s brick mailbox, according to a Union City Police Department report.
The impact caused significant damage to the van and cracked the brick foundation of the mailbox, police reported.
Ms. Zawadzki and her three passengers — Carol Jean Henderson, 60, of 306 North Second St., Union City; Elijah Zawadzki, 2, of 1408 East Church St., Union City; and Wanda Durem, 36, of 1404 East Church St., Union City — were all taken by Regional Emergency Medical Services ambulance to the emergency room of Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City for treatment of unspecified injuries.
Ms. Zawadzki was issued a citation pertaining to not having a driver’s license, according to police.
