COMPETING FOR SCHOLARSHIP — Twenty-eight students were invited to compete for Bethel College’s prestigious Hendrix Scholarship competition on Feb. 15-16.
Three of the 28 students who were invited to compete for Bethel College’s Hendrix Scholarship Competition last Friday were from Weakley County. They are Brooke Summers and Lacie Trevathan, both of Gleason, and Clay Adams of Dresden.
The Hendrix Scholarship, Bethel’s most prestigious academic scholarship, will offer full tuition, room and board to the incoming freshman who performed best in the college’s academic competition. An additional full-tuition scholarship will be awarded to the competition’s runner-up.
Students came from as far away as Alabama and Virginia to compete for the scholarship, which was established, by Nashville civic leader and businessman Willard R. Hendrix in 1988. During the two-day competition on Feb. 15-16, they completed an examination and an interview.
Hendrix winners will be announced by around Feb. 22.
