The Messenger. 02.21.08
As of Jan. 1, 1996, according to Tennessee Code Annotated 65.21.214, phone calls between two points in the same county are to be toll free, with some exceptions, such as cell phone calls.
Some phone customers in South Fulton continue to have difficulty with calls to other areas of Obion County and are sometimes charged for these conversations, according to complaints called in to the local Chamber of Commerce.
A spokesman there advised phone customers in South Fulton who are being charged for calls from their home phones to other areas of Obion County, or residents of other areas in the county who are being charged for calls to South Fulton, to pick up copies of a complaint form to be filed with the Tennessee Regulatory Commission at the chamber office at 214 East Church St. or to go online to www.state.tn.us/tra and access the online utility complaint site there to file a complaint.
Complaints must be filed by individuals, according to a spokesman for the TRA, before action can be taken with the phone company that is billing in error.
