First United Methodist Disaster Relief Team District III members that were available met Thursday, Feb. 7, at Northside Methodist Church in Jackson, to help with the tree cutting and debris cleanup from the tornado. Dresden FUMC workers were Bro. Dan Leslie, Mike and Sarah Ann Pentecost, Laurie Pritchett, Tem Chandler and Jan Everett. They worked on Friday and Monday also. Mike met some other team members and worked at the Faxon Community on Thursday, Feb. 14.
Gene and Joyce Killebrew spent several days in Louisville, Ky., visiting Gene’s twin brother, Dean, and wife Hazel. On Tuesday, Feb. 12, they celebrated their birthday. Dean continues to improve and has been moved to a personal care nursing home. He was able to go home for their birthday dinner.
Kelley and Sheila Swearingen have just returned from several days of vacation in Phoenix, Ariz. While there they were the houseguests of Don and Sharon Dills of Troy (Tenn.) and Phoenix. Sights they enjoyed visiting included the Grand Canyon, the Painted Desert, Flagstaff, Tucson and Tombstone. They also enjoyed an afternoon at the Kansas City Royals baseball spring training park where they were able to meet former players George Brett, Willie Wilson and Frank White.
