A power outage late Wednesday night in portions of Obion County was the result of an equipment problem that required immediate repair, according to Gibson Electric Membership Corp.
The outage occurred at 11 p.m. and lasted about 40 minutes.
A GEMC spokesman said the cooperative was doing some testing Wednesday morning and discovered an equipment problem that required immediate repair. The repair was made late Wednesday night during the 40-minute period.
The spokesman said GEMC would have preferred to wait until the temperatures were more moderate but a delay might have resulted in a prolonged outage.
“Please convey our apology to customers for the inconvenience,” the spokesman said.
