|Happy Valentines Day! This is always a special day to me. I remember all of my loved ones on this special day and I pray that you remember yours and yours remembered you, as well. I hope your Valentine’s Day is a great day! |
The Sharon Corn and Music Festival is well on the way for 2008! We are looking forward to having another successful festival this year. Remember that we are still looking for suggestions, volunteers and sponsors for the festival. Please think about donating products for the games, sponsoring the event or suggest something to make it better, or at least volunteer to work for one hour on some event. It will be greatly appreciated. The festival will be held Sept. 14-20. I am again in charge of bringing in the vendors, so if you are interested, contact me. Also, if you have a suggestion, can be a volunteer, or can be a sponsor of this event, please contact our chairperson, Donetta Davis at 456-2901, or contact me by phone or email. Last year’s event was a great success and we want this year’s event to be even better. Feel free to contact us with your suggestions and we hope to have a lot of volunteers to make this a great success! The vendors will be set up in the back parking lot of First State Bank, which is closer to the festivities this year and we really hope to have a lot of them again!
Time is approaching for the Rose of Sharon Springtime Pageant, March 14-15 and the Tiny Tot Pageant, March 15. Please stop by City Hall and get a registration form for your child. This is another function sponsored by the Sharon School PTO. If you have any questions, please contact Donetta Davis at 456-2901.
I spoke with Donetta Davis about the Trivia Night at Sharon School on Feb. 2 and she said the PTO raised approximately $750! A special thank you goes out to all those that participated.
Remember the City Wide Yard Sale? It’s almost that time again. I believe they hold it on the first Saturday in April. More information as I get it!
For prayer requests, continue to pray for my stepmother, Sally Lassiter. She is recuperating at home and needs your prayers.
My doctor said that this surgery has healed a lot better than the previous one. But as always, please continue to lift me in your prayers. I know that the reason my prayers are being answered is because so many of you are agreeing with me and praying for a speedy recovery.
Did you mark your calendars for the C&C Railroad “O” Scale Model Trains display? If not, here is the information once again. C&C Railroad will have their display again this year in Greenfield from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at the Community Center on the corner of Highway 54 and 2nd Street. There is no admission, and it is always a great set up. C & C Railroad is owned and operated by Steve Chappell and Jimmy Carrington of Sharon. If you have any questions, please call Steve Chappell at 456-2724, between the hours of 5-8 p.m.
For a February calendar, call Shirley Chappell at 456-2213 and she can tell you what’s set up for the month at the Center. She prepares calendars with all the monthly events on them and you can pick one up at the Center. The potluck was on Feb. 13 and Col. Bob Smith presented “Black History” in recognition of Black History Month.
The Sharon Library will begin offering a document shredding service to the Sharon residents one Saturday a month for a small fee. Watch my article for more details. There is a lot of stuff happening during the month and you can call Mrs. Peters at 456-2707 if you have questions about the library. If you had a picture on display at the library during the month of January, please pick them up as soon as you can. The new display is in honor of Black History Month. Remember to check out the Sharon Library.
Steven Stone has a birthday on Feb. 17. My husband, Jim Gardner has a birthday on Feb. 18. My son, Clark Burdette has a birthday on Feb. 19. The Sharon community wishes each of you a very happy birthday! Well, for today, that is “all the news that is news” from the Sharon community. Please continue to send your information to me so that I have information for this article. Without our community, I have nothing to write about! Remember to continue to pray for the military, your neighbors, and that God will have mercy on our land!
