Completed arrangements are being announced for Louis Edward “Bud” Cryer, 78, of Olney, Texas, a former resident of Union City, who died Feb. 7, 2008, at 9 p.m. at Hamilton Hospital in Olney.
Services were set for 1 p.m. today at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern, with burial following in Church Grove Cemetery there. Ernest Earl Johnson III was to officiate and pallbearers were to be Aaron Lawson, Ryan Lawson, Michael Cryer, Shawn Jackson, Calvin Ford and Nicole White. Honorary pallbearers were to be Larry Johnson and Larry Seale.
He was born Sept. 12, 1929, in Trimble, son of the late Andy and Cora (Bracket) Cryer. He was the widower of Florence Faye Crocker and was a retired truck driver.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Ricky Mitchell of Fort Worth, Texas; his daughter-in-law, Sharon Cryer of Walls, Miss.; his son and daughter-in-law, John and Jackie Ford of Union City; his sister, Christine Motley of Newbern; and 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Kelly Cryer and Karen Johnson; his son, Roger Dale Cryer; and his great-granddaughter, Paris LaShawn Jackson.
