Maurene Chatman Yates, 84, of Murray, Ky., a longtime resident of Water Valley, Ky., died 9:25 p.m. Jan. 31, 2008, at Spring Creek Healthcare in Murray.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hornbeak Funeral Home in Fulton, with Chris Chatman and David Chatman officiating. Burial will follow in Water Valley Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until the hour of services.
She was born Jan. 13, 1924, in Graves County, Ky., daughter of the late William L. and Esta (Hedge) Puckett. She was the widow of Dewey H. Chatman and was a member of Water Valley United Methodist Church. She had been a seamstress at the former Weatherspoon Home and Curtain Shop and had lived in the Water Valley area most of her life.
Survivors include her daughter, Wanda S. Null of Acton, Mass.; her son, Rodney D. Chatman of Bella Vista, Ark.; four grandchildren, Chris Chatman of Nashville, David Chatman of Fayetteville, Ark., Karen Iwamolo of Bolton, Mass., and Laara Ayre of Randolph, N.J.; and her brother, Charles Glenn Puckett of Water Valley.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mabel McAlister and Odell Goodrich; and two brothers, James Harold Puckett and W. Cortez Puckett.
