Fire damages home

A home on Ken-Tenn Highway near Union City was heavily damaged by fire Wednesday afternoon.
David Younger’s residence at 3856 Ken-Tenn Highway was the scene of a fire that was reported at 1:22 p.m., according to a Union City Fire Department report.
The first Union City firefighters arrived on the scene at 1:26 p.m. to find fire coming out of a front window and heavy smoke coming from the roof. The neighboring Fulton and South Fulton fire departments were summoned for mutual aid with manpower.
According to the fire department report, the blaze appears to have started in a laundry room and traveled up into the attic of the house, although fire officials indicated they were unable to find anything that may have started the fire.
No injuries were reported by fire officials.
Firefighters remained on the scene until nearly 5 p.m. Among the agencies on hand to assist during that time were the Fulton Fire Department, South Fulton Fire Department, Rives Volunteer Fire Department and Troy Volunteer Fire Department, as well as the Obion County Sheriff’s Department, Obion County Rescue Squad, Regional Emergency Medical Services ambulance and Gibson Electric Membership Corp.
