Maggie Marie Purvis, 70, of Troy died Jan. 25, 2008, at her home.
Services were set for 2 p.m. today at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home in Newbern, with burial following in Newbern’s Fairview Cemetery.
The Rev. James Kinsey and Larry Hitesman were to officiate and pallbearers were to be Brian Hatch, Hunter Hatch, Michael Harris, Garland Evans, Tommy Rice and Brian Rice.
She was born Feb. 7, 1937, in Adamsville, daughter of the late Earl William and Hazel (Dixon) Sweat. She was the widow of Paul B. Purvis and was a retired employee of Dyersburg Fabrics, HECO and Dover and had also worked as a caregiver. She was a member of Sunswept Baptist Church in Union City.
Survivors include her daughter, Vickie (Purvis) Robinson of Troy; three sons, Gary Lynn Purvis of Ripley, Paul C. “Beaver” Purvis of Trenton and Randy Joe Purvis of Dyersburg; her sister, Paula (Sweat) Hatch of Dyersburg; three brothers, Terry Wayne Sweat and Ricky Allan Sweat, both of Dyersburg, and Billy Joe Sweat of Sterling, Ark.; and 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Doyle Sweat and Robert Earl Sweat.
