James “Jimmy” Whipple Jr., 68, of Hickman, Ky., died Jan. 24, 2008, in Conway, Ark.
Private funeral services were held 2 p.m. Sunday at Strong Funeral Home in Hickman, with the Revs. Tom Quimby and Phillip McClure officiating. Burial followed in Hickman City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Earl Wayne Bradshaw, David Weatherly, J.B. Parker Jr., Charles Everett Jr., Max Wilson, David Dunn, Scott Smith and Larry Parks. Honorary pallbearers were Robert D. Fields, Jerry Williams, Cubb Stokes and Robert Hunter.
The family requests that memorials be made to Whipple Scholarship Fund, in care of Citizens Bank, 1522 Union City Highway, Hickman, KY 42050.
He was born April 21, 1939, in Memphis, son of Mildred (Goalder) Whipple of Hickman and the late James A. Whipple Sr. He had lived in Hickman most of his life and was land manager for Whipple Farms. He attended the University of Kentucky and the University of Tennessee at Martin and was a member of the board of directors of Citizens Bank in Hickman. A lifelong member of Hickman First United Methodist Church, he had served his congregation as treasurer.
He is also survived by his wife, Annabell (Bondurant) Whipple.
