Concerts, class set The Messenger. 01.25.08 Two concerts and a music class are scheduled for this weekend and next week at the University of Tennessee at Martin. UT Martin will host the 2008 Honor Band Symposium beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Harriet Fulton Performing Arts Theatre of the Fine Arts Building. The seventh- and eighth-grade band and percussion ensemble will perform at 1. The concert band and high school percussion ensemble will perform at 2, followed by the symphonic band and wind ensemble at 3. The event features students from across the region who come together to work with a lineup of UT Martin faculty and guest artists. This event is free and open to the public. The UT Martin Department of Music’s annual Montage Concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the Harriet Fulton Performing Arts Theatre of the Fine Arts Building. The concert has a fast-paced format that features a variety of performances by students and faculty. There will be performances by soloists, chamber groups and large ensembles. The concert is free and open to the public. Finally, composer and trumpeter Stanley Friedman will give a performance lecture and master class at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Harriet Fulton Performing Arts Theatre of the Fine Arts Building on the University of Tennessee at Martin campus. Friedman will perform and discuss his compositions for trumpet and work with UT Martin music majors. The event is free and open to the public. |
