|Boys & Girls Club Member of the Month |
| Congratulations, Quae Macklin! |
Quae, a junior at Union City High School and the son of Myra Couch and Stephen Macklin, is January’s Club Member of the Month at Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Tennessee-Union City.
Quae has also been honored as the club’s Youth of the Year for 2007. He is a member and soloist with the Boys & Girls Club Gospel Choir and volunteers in the organization’s youth program. He is also involved in activities in his church.
“Quae is a great role model for the other teens in our program,” says club teen director Chelsea Smith. “He brings leadership, energy and direction to our program.”
“Since I’ve been a club member, I have learned how to work with others to achieve a common goal,” says this month’s honoree. “The club makes kids feel safe and they enjoy coming here. It also gives kids the knowledge that they can become anything they want to be.”
Quae says his participation in the club’s gospel choir is one of the things he enjoys most. The choir traveled to Florida and Atlanta in 2007 and has been invited to make several appearances locally and throughout the area.
A member of the club’s board of directors said it has been a joy to watch Quae develop into a leader with a strong voice for pursuing excellence and earning the respect of both fellow students and club members and adults in the community.
