Farris Ashe, 80, of Richardson, Texas, a former resident of Kenton, died Jan. 9, 2008, in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
Graveside services were 10 a.m. Jan. 14 at Restland Memorial Park in Richardson, with a memorial service following there at 11 a.m. at The Heights Baptist Church.
The family requests that memorials be made to The Heights Baptist Church missions fund, 201 West Renner Road, Richardson, TX 75080.
He was born May 3, 1927, in Kenton. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and he received a bachelor of arts degree and a master’s degree in food science from the University of Tennessee. He worked as a quality control technologist in the food industry and was a faithful member of The Heights Baptist Church in Richardson, where he was a deacon for many years.
He is survived by his wife, LaRue Ashe; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Bob Elliot of Gardendale, Ala., and Nancy and Tim Wooldridge of Allen, Texas; four grandchildren, David Elliot, Kristen Elliot, John Wooldridge and Ashlee Wooldridge; two brothers and his sister-in-law, Walter D. Ashe of Bristol and A.J. and Robbie Ashe of Akron, Ohio; and his sister and brother-in-law, Mary Louise and Richard Davis of Kenton.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Malcolm Ashe.
