Men’s Morning of Spirituality
Catholic men in the Mid-South are invited to join Bishop Terry Steib in filling the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception “Shoulder to Shoulder” for the third Men’s Morning of Spirituality on Saturday, Feb. 16, in Memphis. This event will feature speakers, Eucharistic Adoration, the Sacrament of Reconciliation and Mass celebrated by Bishop J. Terry Steib, S.V.D.
The morning of prayer and reflection will begin with coffee and donuts at 8:15 am. The witness speaker will be national speaker Dave Sloan. John Martignoni, founder of the Bible Christian Society, will be the keynote speaker. Both speakers will emphasize the power of the Mass, something all Catholic men can benefit from. After reconciliation and Eucharistic Adoration, Mass will be celebrated by the Most Reverend J. Terry Steib, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Memphis. The event will conclude with a free lunch.
Last year’s May event was attended by almost 500 area men. After the event, Deacon Chip Jones commented, “This fills a need that all of us men here in the Diocese of Memphis have, which is to do something definitive to advance our own spirituality. This is an opportunity to step up and to do something outside of Mass to try to improve ourselves.” These programs have been successful in New Orleans, San Diego, Boston and Cincinnati drawing thousands of Catholic men together to strengthen their faith and commitment to their families and community.
This event is open to all Catholic men in the Mid-South. It will be held at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, located at 1695 Central Ave., Memphis. The morning is being coordinated by Fishers of Men Prayer Group members in the Diocese of Memphis. There are currently 10 Fishers of Men Prayer Groups in the Diocese of Memphis with several more groups in formation.
Bishop J. Terry Steib, SVD has heartily endorsed these events, “The Catholic Men’s Spirituality movement is alive, well and growing in the Diocese of Memphis! … The energy and momentum is seen and felt in many areas, … it is seen in men as they strive to better husbands, fathers, brothers, employers, employees and parishioners.”
The Men’s Morning of Spirituality is free of charge and no pre-registration is required. A free lunch will be provided at 12:35 p.m. For more information visit the Fishers of Men Web site at www.castyournets.org.
