James Martin Hamlin, 89, of Sharon, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at his residence.
Services were held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sharon Church of Christ with Larry Powers and Robert Taylor Jr. officiating. Burial was in New Salem Cemetery, Dresden. Gardner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Michael Coffey, Charles Connell, Doug Copeland, Martin Hamlin, Bob Johnson and Steven Totty served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Susie Vick, Marty Ellen Harris, Janet Morgan, Teresa Powers, Dimple Newsom, Orla Cotham and Jeanette Scott.
Hamlin was born Sept. 9, 1918, in Weakley County. He was U. S. Army veteran, a retired postmaster at the Sharon Post Office, member of the DAV, American Legion, Association of Retired Postmasters, former building inspector for the city of Sharon, member of the NRA, former director of the Weakley County Chamber of Commerce, Ombudsman and an elder of the Sharon Church of Christ.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandra (Joe) Coffey of Manor, Texas; one son, Coleman (Wanda) Hamlin of Sharon; one brother, Mark (Mona) Hamlin Jr. of Franklin; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
