One driver was injured in a three-vehicle crash Monday afternoon in the 100 block of West Reelfoot Avenue at South Second Street in Union City.
Betty L. Harrison, 75, of 521 State Route 239 North, Fulton, sustained injury in an accident that occurred about 2:30 p.m., according to a Union City Police Department report.
She was taken by ambulance to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City for treatment.
In addition to Ms. Harrison, the other drivers involved in the wreck were reported to be Anson Tremain Couch, 26, of 217 Fulton St., Martin; and Laurie K. Flora, 38, of 3959 Flippen Drive, Union City.
Police reported that Couch and Ms. Harrison were both eastbound on West Reelfoot Avenue and were slowing to stop for the traffic light at West Reelfoot Avenue and South First Street. Ms. Flora apparently came up behind both vehicles and could not stop, with her 2000 Jeep Cherokee striking the rear of Ms. Harrison’s 2002 Dodge Caravan, in turn pushing Ms. Harrison’s vehicle into the rear of Couch’s 1997 Chevrolet.
Ms. Flora told police she had looked off and when she looked back, she noticed both of the other vehicles had stopped, but it was too late for her to stop, according to the report.
Ms. Flora was charged with following too closely and failure to show proof of insurance, while Ms. Harrison was also charged with failure to show proof of insurance, police reported.
