The Messenger has learned of the death of Virginia (Oliver) Kilinski, 96, of Atlanta, who died Jan. 5, 2008, in Atlanta. She was a former resident of Union City and the last surviving member of the Union City High School Class of 1928.
Cremation Society of the South was in charge of arrangements. Interment will take place at a later time.
She was born April 11, 1911, in Union City, daughter of the late Henry Madison “Doc Oliver” and Mary Agnes (Sullivan) Oliver. She moved to New Orleans as a young woman and married Karl Kilinski Sr. in 1939. He died in 1998. She made her home in New Orleans until she was forced to evacuate because of Hurricane Katrina. Thereafter, she lived with her son, Robert H. Kilinski of Atlanta.
Survivors also include another son, Karl Kilinski II of Dallas; three grandchildren, Steven Oliver Kilinski, Kenneth Hurst Kilinski and Anna Catherine Kilinski, all of Atlanta; her great-grandson, Connor Robert Kilinski of Atlanta; and her niece, Mary Virginia (Newton) Gutches of Pebble Beach, Calif.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Agnes (Oliver) Newton; and her brother, Henry Madison Oliver Jr.
