Four year old alleged victim of child rape
A Sharon man faces a charge of rape of a child after an investigation by the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services revealed he had allegedly sexually assaulted a four year old.
According to an incident report issued by the Martin Police Department, MPD Inv. James Hatler was notified by state DCS that there was an accusation of child rape.
During the course of an interview conducted at the Exchange Club Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse on Thursday, the child revealed that he was the victim of rape by a caregiver who had inserted an object into the child’s rectum within the last six months.
Frankie L. Hicks of 133 White St. in Sharon reportedly was babysitting the four year old at the child’s home in Martin when the alleged incident occurred.
Hatler made contact with Hicks on Friday and discovered during an interview with the defendant that he admitted to touching the child inappropriately.
According to the incident report, Hicks admitted to investigators that he had exposed the child’s buttocks and inserted a finger into his rectum.
Hicks waived his right to counsel before the interview.
Hicks is being held without bond in the Weakley County Detention Center. He faces one charge of a rape of a child, which carries a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison if he is found guilty.
He is set to appear in Weakley County General Sessions Court next week.
