What a week… I have had several emails and a lot of things to tell you about. First off, Cindy and Randy Gaylord have a new grandson! He is the son of Kimberly (Gaylord) and James Malone and the brother to Anderson, age 3. His name is Tucker Davis Malone, born Jan. 10 in Montgomery, Ala. He weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces and was 20 inches long! Congratulations from the Sharon community!
Hey, for those of you who like to go to the Wild Game Supper at Sidonia, it’s that time again. For those of you who don’t know about this, it is a fundraiser for the Sidonia Fire Department and is an annual event. They serve deer, beaver, rabbit, squirrel, duck, coon, fish, alligator, wild and tame turkey! They also have dressing, beans, slaw and all the trimmings to go with the dinner, including something to drink. It will be at the Sidonia Fire Department on Jan. 26 this year and will begin at 5 p.m. Donations are accepted at the door. This is one of the main fundraisers for the Sidonia Fire Department, and all proceeds go to them, so let’s all go out and support them. I promise you will find some very delicious foods, desserts and fellowship at this event. If you have any questions regarding this event, you can call 973-4575, 973-5501, 973-4455 or 973-4008. So let’s go out on Jan. 26 to show our support!
Now for some bad news… My stepmother, Sally Lassiter was in JMCGH in Jackson. She has had more surgery regarding the circulation of her blood and is not doing very well at all. The family has been notified to stand by as the doctors do all they can. Please lift her up in your prayers! I need prayer too, as this is difficult for me. Her blood work is not completely where it needs to be, but at least she is home now. She has been like a mother to me and since my daddy passed away, she is all that I have left of him. I ask that you continue to lift up Sally, my stepbrother John and his family, my step grandmother, Henrietta, and all of my extended family. I really appreciate all my prayer partners out there!
Janice Page is feeling a lot better. She has two more weeks to wear the arm brace, but the bandages have been removed from her pacemaker. She said she is still sore, but all in all, she feels pretty good. As for the pacemaker, she couldn’t feel better! What an improvement for her! She is looking forward to use of her left arm again. Continue to lift her in your prayers too.
Gary Page went to Memphis this past week about his hearing loss. The doctors checked his ears and found that he had a really bad waxy buildup in them. They cleaned his ears and what a difference! Janice said that she has to watch what she says now because he can hear a pin drop!
I had to go back to the doctor on Monday and get more shots and medicine. I do feel some better this time, and I am praying that I don’t have another relapse. Now my husband Jim is having the same stuff come back on him, too. So we both need your prayers.
Remember that it’s time for PTO’s Trivia Night at the Sharon School Gym. I would love to have Donetta say that this is the best trivia night ever! Be sure to tell her you saw it in my article! Trivia Night will be on Saturday, Feb. 2, beginning at 6 p.m. Each team will consist of six to eight players, with 20 categories and five questions in each category. Cory Sawyers will be the Trivia Host for the evening. There is a small cost of $5 per person to participate in the trivia contest. There will be food and fun available for the whole family. Come on out and plan to eat supper with us. Door Prizes will also be given out! For more information, call Donetta Davis at 456-2901. All proceeds go to the Sharon PTO.
For a January calendar, call Shirley Chappell at 456-2213 and she can tell you what’s set up for the month at the Center. I know that they had their potluck lunch on Wednesday, Jan. 9 and they had quite a crowd. Remember to mark your calendars that the potluck lunch is always on the second Tuesday of each month! The center has exercise equipment and games and is ready for us to enjoy! They play cards every day and dominos so why not come on out and meet the other seniors in our community.
There is a lot of things happening this month and in February at the Sharon Library. The Book Buzz will meet on Jan. 24 at 1:30 at the library. Come out and discuss what books you have read.
On Feb. 6, from 1-3 p.m., Mike Mollenhour will be at the Sharon Library to sign and discuss his new novel, “Arcturus.” He will present a slide show of pictures and maps of scenes, people and objects pertinent to the plot of his book. He graduated from Sharon School in 1969 and is now an attorney in Knoxville. Be sure you mark your calendar for his visit.
Lee Roberts has a birthday on Jan. 19! The Sharon community wishes you a very happy birthday!
I have also had a lot of requests for information about my son, Clark. He is doing well. Things are hectic at the post, but that is always expected in the Army. He said, “thanks for all the prayers for my unit and myself. Knowing our home town is backing us up is the greatest feeling while you’re serving your country!”
Well, for today, that is “all the news that is news” from the Sharon community. Please continue to send your information to me so that I have information for this article. Without our community, I have nothing to write about! Remember to continue to pray for the military, your neighbors, and that God will have mercy on our land!
