Hunter Hynds Unit has meeting

The Messenger. 01.17.08
The Hunter Hynds Unit of United Methodist Women met recently at Stanley’s Chapel United Methodist Church near Union City with 12 members present.
President Chris Cheatham called the meeting to order and led the reading of the purpose. Prayer requests were shared and Becky Barnes led in the time of petition.
Lucile Thompson read the minutes and Mrs. Cheatham announced a mission study to be held at Fulton First United Methodist Church Jan. 26 at 9 a.m. The topic will be globalization, with Mrs. Tom Smith as leader.
The prayer calendar was reviewed by Sandra McTurner. For a devotional thought, Mrs. Cheatham read a poem, “Think About U in Jesus.”
Serena Blanton presented the call to prayer and self-denial program written by Kathleen Stone, “Learning for a Lifetime.” She related several stories of young girls suffering from abuse and neglect who were helped through missions. Readers included Becky Barnes, Rosemary Coleman and Emily Haynes. Mrs. McTurner read verses of scripture from Mark 5:21-43 during the program.
The table of interest attractively displayed photos of young children and family members, three candles that were lit at appropriate points during the program and a beautiful arrangement of fresh asparagus fern, foxtail fern and paper whites, grown by Jared Barnes.
A special offering was received as Mrs. Coleman played “Jesus Loves Me.”
Mrs. Blanton closed with prayer.
The next meeting will be at the church Feb. 13 at 7 p.m.
