FORTNIGHTLY CLUB MEETS

wcp 1-17-08
The Fortnightly Club met Saturday, Jan. 5, in the home of Mrs. Nancy Claybrook, with Mrs. Martha Kelley and Mrs. Melba Wash as co-hostesses. The hostesses served a delicious dessert plate to 17 members.
President Claybrook asked Mrs. Barbara Trentham, leader and reporter, to introduce Mrs. Lynn Gibson and Mrs. Jerri Conley, members of Fortnightly, who presented the program for the afternoon about the school supply area and the special youth/young adult gift boxes at the We Care Ministries store.
Each year, We Care supplies book bags and other school needs to several hundred children. Mrs. Gibson and her committee are responsible for obtaining these much needed bags and school supplies using donations from various groups in our community. Mrs. Conley discussed her role in the assembly of gift boxes that We Care provides for youth at the Christmas Store. This year some 700 children we served by the Christmas Store at We Care.
At the conclusion of the program, President Claybrook conducted a short business meeting. The members joined together in the reading of the collect. Other business of the club was discussed. A short summary was given about our anniversary tea in December. President Claybrook presented a slide show of the photographs taken at the tea by Mrs. Carol Gibson. She particularly wanted to recognize the Quarter-Century members of Fortnightly. They are Miss Margaret Weaver, Mrs. Sue Foote, Mrs. Nellie Sparks, Mrs. Ruby Brundidge and Mrs. Dottie Smith.
Members present other than those already mentioned were Mrs. Evelyn Culvahouse, Mrs. Marion Fields, Mrs. Edna Harris, Mrs. Betty Henson, Mrs. Carolyn James, Mrs. Donna Jones, Mrs. Judy Keene and Mrs. Pat Watkins.
