John E. Johnson, 89, of Fulton died Jan. 14, 2008, at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Hornbeak Funeral Home in Fulton, with the Rev. Greg Hussey officiating. Burial will follow in Fulton at Greenlea Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. Friday and on Saturday from 8 a.m. until the hour of services.

He was born Nov. 10, 1918, in Elloree, S.C., son of the late Cub and Ruth (McDonald) Johnson. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II and was a member of the American Legion in Gary, Ind. He had worked for the Veterans Administration for 33 years as a supervisor and dietitian and had lived in this area the past 10 years.
Survivors include four nieces, Loren Brown of Fulton, Linda Johnson of Paducah, Ky., and Denise McQuiston and Debra Cherry, both of Atlanta; four nephews, Curtis Johnson of Elkhart, Ind., William Johnson of St. Paul, Minn., and Michael Johnson and Gregory Avery, both of Minneapolis.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Willie Lee Johnson and Gladys Grant; and two brothers, Julius Johnson and Sonny Johnson.
