Dorothy D. Tibbs, 86, of Urbana, Ill., died 4:09 a.m. Jan. 13, 2008, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.
A memorial reception is planned for 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Urbana Assembly of God. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Cayce (Ky.) Baptist Church, with the Rev. Michael Farmer officiating. Burial will follow in Cayce Cemetery.
Friends may call at the church from noon-1 p.m. Saturday.
Renner-Wikoff Chapel and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Tibbs was born Feb. 22, 1921, in Cayce, daughter of the late Ardell and Jesse (Sloan) Simpson. She was married to Raymond Adams, Jack Lavine, Earl Tibbs and Leonard Schneider, three of whom preceded her in death. She was a certified dietitian and was employed in hotel management. A member of Cayce Baptist Church and Daughters of the American Revolution, she had also been a missionary.
The family requests that memorials be made to Urbana Assembly of God or Cayce Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Helen Kay Nicholas; four stepchildren; her sister, Molly Woodside of Grand Rapids, Mich.; five grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 10 step-great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, her sister and two great-grandsons.
