UCMS swept by LC
in reg. season finale

Union City was on the wrong end of a jayvee basketball sweep Thursday against Lake County.
The Twisters fell to 4-10 in a 44-26 loss to Lake County, while their female counterparts were drubbed 45-14 in the night’s opener.
Nick Crumble paced the UC boys with six points and 13 rebounds with teammate Shyheim Slayton also responsible for six markers.
Keylon Hyde brought down 10 caroms for the Twisters.
In the girls’ game, Anna Moore and Brittany Parker each scored four for Union City (4-10, 4-8 West Tennessee Athletic Conference).
Both UC teams return to action Monday night on the road in area tournament satellite games against undetermined opponents.

Union City’s freshman boys notched their seventh win of the season in a 57-31 triumph Thursday night.
The Twisters (7-4) were led by LaMarcus Allen with 14 points. Tyler Steward-Crume and Antonio Cox were both a point off the team’s top pace with 13 apiece.
UC’s frosh boys return to action Saturday at noon against Dyer County at home. The Twisters also play Monday night at Dyersburg.

Central JV squads
both fall at D’burg

Both the Obion Central boys’ freshman team and jayvee team scored 51 points Thursday against Dyersburg and both teams lost.
The OC frosh squad fell 60-51 to D’burg, while the Rebel junior varsity team was dropped 59-51.
In the freshman game, two players reached double digits with Jaquis Williams (13 points) and Brady York (12 points) leading the way for the locals.
Tyler Barber paced the Rebel jayvee team with 16 points, while teammate Ethan Davis added 14 during the defeat.

Obion Central hosts
JH Night Tuesday

Obion Central will host “Junior High Night” Tuesday when the school’s teams take on Gibson County.
Members of the basketball teams and cheerleading squads from all five of the Obion County School System schools will be recognized on that evening.
The county’s boys’ basketball players will be introduced at halftime of the girls’ game, while their female counterparts will be recognized at intermission of the boys’ game.
There will be an area designated for the junior high students to sit and a meal prior to the game at 5.
All OCSS basketball players, managers and cheerleaders will be admitted to the game for free.

Hudson’s 29 leads
UTM to OVC win

CHARLESTON, Ill. (AP) — Lester Hudson had a game-high 29 points and 10 rebounds to lead UT Martin to a 69-63 win over Eastern Illinois Thursday night.
Hudson scored 20 points in the first 20 minutes as the Skyhawks jumped to a 38-20 halftime lead.
Former Union City High School standout Marquis Weddle finished with five points during a 1-for-6 night from the field.
The Panthers’ top scorer, Romain Martin, returned after a two-game absence due to a sore tendon in his foot and missed all 10 of his shots.
