For the 3 million Tennesseans on the state Do-Not-Call Register, registration is good for life unless subscribers want to remove their names and begin receiving telemarketing calls. Tennesseans may contact the Tennessee Regulatory Authority and have their names removed, according to TRA chairman Eddie Roberson.
The TRA informs Tennessee residents every year that they may call the agency and have their names removed from the register.
People wishing to remove their phone numbers from the Do-Not-Call Register should call the TRA’s Consumer Services Division at 1-800-342-8359.
The Do-Not-Call Register was established in 1999 by the Tennessee General Assembly and is open to residential telephone customers, who may list their traditional and wireless phone numbers. Businesses are not eligible for the program.
The TRA’s mission is to promote the public interest by balancing the interests of utility consumers and providers. For more information on the TRA, visit online at www.state.tn.us/tra.
