Old Timey Live Music will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Union City First United Methodist Church family life center fellowship hall. The church is located at 420 East Main St. and those attending may park in the lot off North Ury Street and use the double-door entrance to the building on the west side of the lot.
This is a change of location because of the colder weather.
The entertainment is free.
“Tune up that old guitar, banjo, mandolin, fiddle, etc. and come out and make some new friends while you learn some new ‘old’ music. All those that are just learning are most welcome to come, play and sing along. Hopefully you’ll make friends with those who will help you play and sing better,” a spokesman said.
The popular program attracts those who love to play and listen to “acoustic only” tunes in the old-timey, country, bluegrass and gospel venues. Organizers request no electrified instruments or microphones be used. They invite those who are just learning to play stringed acoustic instruments to come and learn with more experienced “pickers.” Harmonica players will also be welcome, as will singers, who are encouraged to introduce favorite old-timey songs to the group.
