REELFOOT DAR VISITS — Reelfoot Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution members Mary Dunavant and Hazel Williams recently visited with the Jacob Flournoy DAR chapter in Fulton. Among those attending the meeting were (front, from left) Charlotte Ivey, Eunice Clark, Agnes Sublette, (standing) Lora James, Barbara Tidwell, Mrs. Dunavant, Elaine Allen, Mrs. Williams and Margaret Adams. Also attending was Sallie Ferguson. Hunter Whitesell, district judge for Fulton and Hickman counties in Kentucky, spoke on “Manifesto: Together Facing the New Totalitarianism.” Judge Whitesell stressed that even though this group states that “the world now faces a new totalitarian global threat: Islamism,” their agenda is much greater. They said, “We, writers, journalists, intellectuals call for resistance to religious totalitarianism and for the promotion of freedom, equal opportunity and secular values for all.” The manifest was signed by 12 Middle Easterners and European intellectuals.
