The seventh annual University of Tennessee at Martin Department of Visual and Theatre Arts High School Arts Competition and Exhibition will display the work of promising young artists from throughout northwest Tennessee beginning Monday.
Student art is accepted into the exhibition as juried by the UT Martin faculty of art. Several awards and recognitions will be made in four different categories.
The High School Competition and Exhibition opening leads up to the Department of Visual and Theatre Arts sponsored College Art Day slated for Jan. 18. High school participants from the region are invited for a day of art workshops and fun. More than 120 art students attended last year, participating in eight different workshops covering various aspects of the visual arts.
During the College Art Day lunch break, award presentations (including cash awards) will be made to students in the art competition.
The High School Art Com-petition and Exhibition and College Art Day will be held in the Fine Arts Building Gallery at UT Martin.
