UTM hosting candlelight vigil in MLK Day observance

A candlelight vigil will be held next week at the University of Tennessee at Martin to mark Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The UT Martin Office of Minority Affairs, Black Student Association and NAACP will sponsor the Martin Luther King Day candlelight vigil at 7 p.m. Jan. 15 in Room 206 B&C of Boling University Center.
Among those participating will be the Rev. Jolinne Downey, director of the Interfaith Center, and the Rev. Dr. Russell Morrow, director of New Generations Ministry in Union City. Refreshments will be served.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a U.S. holiday marking the birthdate of civil rights leader the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and is observed on the third Monday of January each year, around the time of King’s birthday, Jan. 15.
