Police are seeking a man accused of firing a gun during an altercation early Wednesday at a Fulton home.
Tommy “Pete” Brown, an adult black male, is being sought in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred about 3:18 a.m. Wednesday at a home at 803 Vine St. in Fulton, according to a press release from the Fulton Police Department.
Police responded to the home after a caller to 911 reported that a gunshot had been fired in the house, with no additional information given to authorities. Officers arrived to discover that the suspect had fled the scene, still armed with the handgun.
The victim, Leroy Brown, told police that his brother, Pete Brown, had shot at him. The two brothers apparently had been arguing and Pete Brown allegedly left the room and returned armed with a handgun. He then allegedly fired one shot at Leroy Brown and fled the scene.
Police reported that the fired bullet missed Leroy Brown and other occupants of the home, instead striking a television and then hitting a brick fireplace. The projectile was recovered and statements taken from witnesses.
Fulton police notified other area law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for Pete Brown. Officers of the Union City Police Department observed the suspect’s vehicle enter the city limits of Union City and attempted to stop the vehicle, but Pete Brown fled the vehicle and eluded officers. A male juvenile, identified as an occupant of the suspect’s vehicle, was detained by police, according to the press release.
In addition, police recovered the suspect’s handgun, believed to have been utilized in the Fulton shooting incident.
Fulton Police Department public information officer Capt. Jere Hughes said Fulton police detective Steven Williams will be obtaining warrants for first-degree assault for Pete Brown and other charges are possible.
