Completed arrangements are being announced for Lewis Donald Parnell, 68, of the Walnut Log community, who died 10 p.m. Jan. 1, 2008, at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Dilday Funeral Home in Union City, with the Rev. Eric Burress officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Manual Cemetery near Walnut Log.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be James Buckingham, Jim Williams, Jeff Johnson, Bobby Johnson, Daniel Thomas, Bobby Hopper, Jere Hughes and Brandon Gallimore. Honorary pallbearers will be Garland Williams, Mark Williams, Bill Everett, Timmy Gantt, Jackie Duncan and Larry Parks.
He was born Dec. 13, 1939, in Hickman, Ky., son of the late H.B. Parnell and the late Maxine (Sutton) Parnell Dingess. He married the former Sue Carter Oct. 14, 1977. She survives. He was the deputy jailer at the Fulton County Detention Center and had been a farmer for 50 years. He was a member of Walnut Log Baptist Church.
Survivors also include three daughters, Lisa Gail Chandler of Lousiana and J.J. Richards and Chasity Sue Ann Smith, both of Walnut Log; two sons, Ricky Parnell and Lewis Randall Parnell, both of Fulton; his sister, Dottie Parnell of Murray, Ky.; his brother, Herbert Lee Parnell of New Hampshire; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and two half sisters, Rachel Dingess and Ceni Dingess, both of Mann, W.Va.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, Harvey Parnell.
