James Randall “J.R.” Moore, 88, of Union City died Dec. 30, 2007, at his home.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at East View Cemetery, with the Revs. Paul Sternisha and John and Claudia Polsgrove officiating. There will be no visitation.
White-Ranson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
The family requests that memorials be made to Union City First Christian Church.
He was born Nov. 21, 1919, in the Glass community of Obion County, son of the late Cannon Grisham and Elizabeth (Graham) Moore. He married the former Anne James Alexander April 9, 1939. She survives.
He was the station manager for WENK radio for more than 20 years and had also been involved in real estate. He had been employed, as well, at the former Homestead store in Union City.
He was a member of Union City First Christian Church for 55 years and served as a deacon there. He had been president of both the Union City Jaycees and the Union City Rotary Club and was the first inductee in the Obion County Fair Hall of Fame, with that honor taking place in 2002.
Survivors include, in addition to his wife, three daughters, Randa Bransford of Atlanta and Angeline Harris and Reece Garner, both of Union City; his son, James C. Moore of Leesville, La.; his sister, Rebecca Freeman of Gatlinburg; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his son, David Moore; and his brother, Robert C. “Pistol” Moore.
